It makes me really sad when I see the system failing people that need help.
There is a nice guy who lives down the road who has a few challenges. From what I can tell, he is not living in an “assisted environment” and manages as best he can.
His girlfriend walked out last night and they were busy having a screaming match with each other as they walked past my house. This went on (and off and on) between 10 pm and 2 am. Apparently he had lost the house key – or his girlfriend thought he was hiding it.
I saw him at 5am this morning out with his torch and talking to himself while he looked for the key in the grass up and down our street. It’s not the first thing he has lost something as he’s stopped me numerous times – sometimes it’s his wallet or medication or phone. And sometimes he just wants to say hello.
It’s just so sad that in Australia, a first world country, that these people are expected to take care of themselves with no support. Just so wrong 😦
