It’s a funny thing, vanity. It makes us do things for the sake of looking good, wear uncomfortable things all in the name of fashion, and even agree to things we know we shouldn’t do.
But after one to many times struggling with bags of groceries I finally swallowed my pride. I took myself off to Briscoes and bought a shopping trundler. It’s black with a bit of creme and has nice sturdy wheels. I should have bought it months ago and now I’m wondering why I left it so long.
It went for its first outing yesterday — off to the farmers market. Goodbye sore shoulders, hello convenience! It managed all the vegetables including a bunch of celery sticking out the top. They’re becoming quite the accessory at my farmers market (notice the vanity sneaking in again?) and they are not restricted to retired age folk. They come in a variety of colours, sizes, and styles — some even have added features such as zipped pockets. Most have two wheels but there is a four wheel option out there too (personal opinion… it looked a little weird). At least when I wheel mine around behind me, I’ll be able to pretend it’s a suitcase.
So for practicality I give them a resounding 10 out of 10. For the image conscious… well… it’s a big brave step.
